About Draco

Draco is a one-year-old sweet and goofy Boxer/lab mx we think. He’s a joyful exuberant guy that is friendly with all people, young and old and greets visitors with great enthusiasm. He is a very energetic guy (see his video), is sweet and affectionate and wants to please. He knows some basic commands–he will “sit” and “stay” but not long yet. Draco has had little leash experience so leash training needs to be high on an adopter’s to-do list for Draco. He’s highly food motivated, so treat rewards really help shape his behavior. Draco has separation anxiety…we are starting to work on that, but for the time being, if his foster mom needs to go somewhere without him, she drops him off at the doggy daycare or has another person come to keep him company. So he needs a home with a human or humans who have the time and patience to work to help him with his separation issues…it might be that another dog in the home would help. Draco is not crate trained…he is absolutely terrified of even approaching a crate. This guy needs a decent sized fenced yard (not invisible/electric fence), a person or family that is home more than not and one that can provide alternative human company while he overcomes his separation anxiety…like doggy daycare. Draco will also do best living with a compatible doggy companion that can match his energy. A $250 adoption fee is required. If you are interested in this dog, please fill an adoption application form. If you have previously submitted an application form, there is no need to re-apply. Just let us know you’re interested in this dog. We do our best to match families and dogs so everyone is pleased and the placement is permanent. We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if the home situation is incompatible with the needs of the rescue dog. Rescue is about doing our best for the dog. We do home and reference checks. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and are up to date with current vaccinations, before being placed in their forever homes. Foster homes needed! We are always looking for good foster homes. Our rescue is foster based and we can always save more dogs if we have foster homes for them to go into. It is not a long term commitment. We have been able to find good forever homes in a short time. We also welcome volunteers who can help transport dogs and help with our outreach and fund raising efforts. Please contact us if you can help.
