About Chaco Taco

Chaco Taco is an estimated 3-year-old, 14 lb male Chihuahua mix who joined us from Texas. He was rescued from an overpass (found as a stray) along with a few other dogs. Chaco was quite fearful when he was first rescued and it appeared he hadn’t had much experience living in a home. With time, patience and training, Chaco is now ready for his special forever home! We kindly ask that you ready his full profile before submitting an application. Foster Update: This special Chihuahua boy is looking for the right forever home to call his own. When Chaco first arrived with us, it became clear that a leash and pets were two things he had no clue about. Thanks to his incredible foster mom, Chaco has gone from a terrified pup to a pup that’s finally learned how to “dog”. It took patience and trust, and lots of side eye from Chaco, but after his first accepting chin scratch he is finally realizing that humans aren’t so bad after all. Once he trusts you, he is a big fan of chin scratches. Chaco had no clue about a leash when he first arrived, but after patient training he has completed his first pack walk! He now enjoys walks and exploring, but doesn’t mind a lazy afternoon inside either. Chaco is crate trained and potty trained. He has done okay on shorter car rides, but does get car sick on longer rides. Chaco is a huge fan of all dogs, and will require a confident canine companion in his forever home. He takes the lead from other dogs and is looking for a canine sibling he can be close to, as he is one who doesn’t want to leave their side. Due to Chaco’s more fearful nature, he will require a quieter adult-only home, and an adopter with past experience working with more nervous/fearful pups. Each new milestone has helped Chaco’s confidence grow and helped him start to reach his full potential. While Chaco has made great strides in foster care, his forever home will need to be committed to his ongoing training and provide the much-needed patience, structure and guidance that this guy needs to thrive. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $500, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue. Animal History: This dog was rescued from Texas. This dog will be available for adoption in Seattle once evaluated.
