The adoption process starts with an Online Adoption Application. Phone interviews do not take place till after an approved application is on file and we have a possible match for your home. “My name is Bossy. I am 10 months old and weigh 15 pounds. I had a crazy start to life as I vomited for the first six months of my life which is the main reason I was turned over to rescue. After many tests I have food allergies. I am I am on medication every day for this and will have to probably take the rest of my life. I am on a special dog food. Small feedings during the day have really helped me. I am super friendly. I love to snuggle. But I also love to run and jump and play. I especially love my squeaky toys. I live in my foster home now with other dogs, but sometimes they get tired of my energy. I would love a new home where there is lots of activity, and things to keep my mind busy. I like to be outside when it is nice, but I’m not too fond of the wind blowing in my face. I sleep in my kennel at night and I know how to sit. I have a history of eating my own poop, which in turn makes me sick. If I were to live with other dogs, poop will need to be picked up daily. Adoption fee? $500.” All of our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and micro-chipped. Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption. MABTR requires a fenced in area from families who own their home, however we do adopt to apartment complexes and communities where fences are not permitted due to leases and covenants. In these cases a leash law must be enforced. We do not accept invisible fencing. MABTR only adopts to families residing in NE, CO, MO, KS, IA, WY, SD, ND, ID, UT, MT, MN, and SW corner of AR due to the lack of volunteer support in other states, no exception even if you are willing to drive.
