Audey Murphey

Home Dog Adoption Audey Murphey

About Audey Murphey

Audey Murphey is on his trial basis. You can apply if you wish for a back up or see Fred he is available to adopt! He is one of the sweetest dogs you will meet. Does great with many dogs. In fact, he would probably do best in a home with another dog. At 75 lbs, it’s clear he does not wish to do any harm! When he was found he was lost and confused…. and about to get into trouble with all the traffic. A fellow rescuer made a quick stop and he ran to her. We did the hunt for the owner but to no avail. He is a marvelous LARGE dog. He is about 2 yrs old + (gave him a birthday of 12/12/18) . We suspect he could be part Weimaraner because of his color? His ears? Is he part German Shepherd? He is the type of dog, unless you exert the alpha over him, he will take charge. He needs to have boundaries immediately. We do NOT feel it would work to place him in a home with any other small animals, including but not limited to cats. This includes no guinea pigs, rabbits, any kind of bird. He has been with toddlers in a home and well supervised and there were no issues whatsoever. Toddlers/small children – we can’t imagine him ever being aggressive, but likely could knock them over in his enthusiasm. AUDEY is VERY sweet and even tempered. He gets along with other dogs but doesn’t take cues to leave them alone. He is not low energy so some dogs likely would not appreciate him. He will be great for an active family or someone who loves running or hiking. I would not put him with young, small children mostly because he is so large and rambunctious, unless you do not mind if he accidentally knocks a small one over in his enthusiasm, as he doesn’t realize his size. LOL he thinks he is a lap dog. He is such a doll! He just does not like the vacuum and some other things do scare him. LOL He still squats to pee…no leg lifting. He does get anxious at times with scary noises (vacuum, lawnmower, etc). He learns quickly and would do best with someone good at working with commands and engaging his mind. He knows sit, stay, down, free and come already. He’ll even shake hands with you! He needs to have clear boundaries and a good alpha leader. Audey is neutered, vaccinations: DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies; dewormed, tested NEG for Heart Worms, Heart Worm prevention, and flea/tick control. He has a lot of energy and might need some leash training. We have a low adoption fee. Patti Howard would be an excellent person for virtual advice about leash training or anything else. She is very reasonably priced and has done great with anyone we have recommended her to for their dog.
